14° Coordination Meeting of Regional Organizations - Trieste, 27-28 March 2017

The AII Permanent Secretariat attended the Fourteenth Coordination Meeting of Regional Organizations held in Trieste at the Central European Initiative (CEI) Headquarters on 27-28 March 2017. The meeting was attended by the AII, the Black-Sea Economic Cooperation Organization, the CEI, the Council of Baltic Sea States, the Danube Commission, the Regional Cooperation Council and the Union for the Mediterranean Secretariat.

The meeting discussed, on one side, the current initiatives for promoting regional cooperation in view of the Trieste Summit of the Western Balkans Process (to be held in Trieste on 12 July); on the other side, it focused on the EU macro-regional strategies and the role of transnational cooperation programmes in their implementation.

Participants acknowledged the importance of macro-regional experiences in planning and implementing common initiatives and investments across transnational partnerships and concluded that the role and commitment of regional organizations need to be further exploited in order to deliver the Macro-Regional Strategies expected results.
