II AII COMMITTEE OF SENIOR OFFICIALS – PATRAS, 12 FEBRUARY 2025
The second AII Committee of Senior Officials under Hellenic Chairmanship took place in Patras and via videoconference on 12th February 2025, at the end of the technical meeting of EUSAIR National Coordinators.
The meeting was chaired by Mrs. Frida Georgiou, First Counselor for Economic & Commercial Affairs at the Hellenic Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with the support of Ambassador Fabio Pigliapoco, Head of the AII Permanent Secretariat.
After an overview of the activities carried out so far under the Hellenic Chairmanship, Senior Officials discussed key topics, including the progress of the Chairmanship’s programme, upcoming initiatives, and preparations for the Adriatic and Ionian Council/EUSAIR Ministerial meeting.
Discussions also focused on the preparation of the annual Declaration of the Adriatic and Ionian Council, with the Permanent Secretariat working closely with the Chairmanship-in-office and the European Commission to finalize the document by early May.
Further topics discussed were: 25th Anniversary of the Adriatic-Ionian Initiative and a celebratory event; the AII Parliamentary dimension and the 19th Conference of the Speakers/ Presidents of the AII Parliaments; and the proposal of the Forum of the Adriatic and Ionian Chambers of Commerce to organize a side-event within the EUSAIR annual Forum.
The 24th Meeting of the EUSAIR Governing Board took place in Patras on February 13th. Amb. Pigliapoco reported to the EUSAIR GB on the outcomes of the CSO held the previous day.
